Alick and Mari aim to make your stay as enjoyable and as comfortable
as possible. Both the Cottage and the Studio are furnished tastefully
with many real paintings and prints. Most of the floor coverings
and furnishings are in natural fibres. We provide a good selection
of books – fiction and non-fiction, games, jig-saws, videos,
CDs, audio-tapes etc. also local maps and guides to help you get
to know the area.
There
is a comprehensive file of ‘Places of Interest’ and
information on restaurants, cafés, theatre, cinema,
and we provide Fridays local paper The Bath Chronicle for
the “What’s
On” section and local news. In addition we have information
on church services and important emergency telephone numbers
for doctors, dentist, hospitals etc.
On
request we
will send you an inventory of non-fixed items (ie excluding
pictures, mirrors) for you to peruse, so that you can decide
if it is necessary to bring a particular item, e.-g. a cafetière
which we provide, and tea-towels, dish cloth, washing-up liquid,
the first toilet roll, a local map, torch etc.
Upon
your arrival we welcome you personally and offer any assistance
that you require. After this we leave you in peace to enjoy your
stay, but are always on hand if needed. We have arranged that
the entrances to both Holly Cottage and The Hollies Garden Studio
are completely separate, approached from two different lanes,
and on opposite sides of the three-quarters acre property.
Each
property has its own patio or garden with, for Holly Cottage guests,
a large main communal lawn which can be used for games that we
have such as badminton, swing-ball or a paddling pool for young
ones. More grown-up paddling can be had in the stream just beyond
the enclosed garden. Energetic ball games are not encouraged due
to possible breakages!
Bed
linen
Bed linen is all cotton with feather pillows and duvets on double,
king-size, and sofa-beds (if used). Duvets and pillows on the
bunk beds (Holly Cottage) are hollow-fibre and non-allergenic.
We have spares of the hollow-fibre bedding for allergy sufferers
should you require this. For people who are allergic to animals,
please note that we have cats and one or two of them are prone
to wander in and out – but feel free to eject them if you
wish! Our Abyssinian cat Tula is quite a character and very friendly.
She is frequently written about in the Visitor’s Book.
Towels
We provide hand towels in the shower-rooms and kitchen along with
two tea-towels. Please let us know if you wish us to provide personal towels,
otherwise we'll assume you will bring your own.
Welcome
Basket
On your arrival there will be a ‘welcome pack ’ containing
(for example); croissants, jam or marmalade, milk, fruit. There are also basic
supplies of tea, coffee, herb teas, sugar, paper towels, toilet paper etc. We
shall add a bottle of good wine for those who are returning for another stay!

MAY WE GET IN YOUR BASIC SUPPLIES?
|
Many people can arrive tired and hungry often after a long journey.
The last thing you feel like doing, especially with fractious
children, is to go out again shopping. We have thought carefully
about this and would like to offer an initial service to help
you settle in as hassle-free as possible. We will do a first basic
shop for you of up to 15 ITEMS. What we do ask though that it
is from SAINSBURY ONLY, where we do our main bulk shop. These
items will be bought usually on the day of your arrival and installed
in the kitchen and fridge/freezer awaiting your arrival, along
with the itemised bill.
